A Quiet Offering
And a Book Cover Reveal
When I became an empty nester, a fresh fervor for the future filled me, like a new horizon, full of promise. Instead of calling my home an empty nest, I called it a quiet nest. And motherhood doesn’t end with a quiet nest; it simply changes.
I knew with absolute surety how my role as a mom would change. I would settle into a new season where my primary job as a mom would look more like prayer. Sure, I had always prayed for my kids, but prayer with little kids often looked like a tired mom pushing a double stroller in front of her while dragging a shopping cart behind her.
Now I could pray with more focus. I also had some specific matters weighing on my heart, and I wanted to grow deeper in my prayer life. So, I devoted the next two years to studying everything I could about prayer. This has led to a new book called While Waiting for Morning: An Invitation to Pray.
This little book on prayer is really a culmination of much study mixed with life experience. It’s a quiet offering I now lay on the altar for God to do whatever he desires to do. There is no big marketing campaign in the works. No big social media push. I’m not inclined to engineer keywords for the sake of Search Engine Optimization. Nor am I interested in trying to game the algorithms.
I’m not a wheeler-and-dealer. I’m simply a writer. And this is my quiet offering.
I cannot promise this book will change anyone’s life, but I can promise that the making of it changed mine. Because that’s how prayer works; it changes us from the inside-out.
I have many stories to share in the days to come, but today my heart’s desire is simply this: May the words within these pages become a quiet beginning to a deepening prayer life for anyone who desires it. This is my prayer. For you. For me. For all of us.
Shalom.
Denise
